About (English Readers)
The idea behind the Old Dragon project was born out of the author’s discontent regarding the new directions of our favorite RPGs. Old Dragon was born because we believe that RPG can be more immaginative, more chaotic and not so balanced and artificial as the new age of games currently in market.
Old Dragon was born because we believe that RPG can be more immaginative…
We believed that the nostalgia and thrill that RPGs used to bring to the gaming table could be brought back through the reliving of some of the standards that the years and new edition sent to oblivion.
In this manner, totally connected with the nostalgic movement of those days of glory, called abroad OSR, or Old School Renaissance, Antonio Sá Neto, from Paragons blog and Fabiano Neme, from Vorpal blog, got together with the art director Daniel Ramos (also from Paragons) in a bold project: to do the first OGL old school game in brazilian portuguese!
…in a bold project: to do the first OGL old school game in brazilian portuguese!
With those ideas in mind and the old school ideal as a goal, they released in 2009, the Old Dragon Fast-Play-Test, the first ruleset of the system, in order to playtest it and to show the premisses of the project to the public, that believed in the idea and went along with the development of the book.
So, less than a year and 15k downloads before, the three involved in the project get back on the scene for the release of the definitive ruleset. This is the result of hours of playtest, opinion research that culminates now, in november of 2010, in the release of this website and the presale of the Old Dragon core ruleset as the definitive first 100% brazilian OGL old school game.
